Privacy Policy

writtylabs ("Company") values the privacy of users of the Butler Chronicle service ("Service") and complies with applicable data protection laws, including GDPR and the Korean Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

1. Information We Collect

Required Information

• Email address (or email associated with your social login provider)
• Social login identifier (Kakao, Google, Apple, or Naver account ID)
• Nickname (set by user)

Information Collected During Use

• Pet information: name, species, breed, date of birth, profile photo
• Uploaded photos (for recording daily moments)
• Location information extracted from uploaded photo EXIF metadata (optional)
• Device location (optional, requested when creating a record)
• Keyword tags, record type (letter/essay/diary), relationship setting
• AI-generated content (letters, essays, diaries)
• Subscription plan information and usage history

Automatically Collected Information

• Service usage logs and access records
• FCM push notification token (for sending notifications)

2. How We Use Your Information

• Account registration and identity verification
• Pet profile management and record-keeping services
• AI-powered letter, essay, and diary generation
• Location-based regional context for AI content
• Push notifications (reminders, service updates)
• Subscription plan management and usage limits
• Service operation and customer support

3. Data Retention

We delete personal information immediately upon account deletion, except in the following cases:

• Paid plan users: retained during subscription and up to 1 year after deletion for dispute resolution
• Free plan users: data automatically deleted 1 year after last access
• Memorial mode: automatically deleted after 3 years of inactivity (email notification 30 days prior)
• Payment records: retained for 5 years as required by the Electronic Commerce Act
• Service usage logs: retained for up to 1 year

4. Location Information

We may access location data in two ways:

EXIF Metadata

When you upload a photo, we may extract location data from the photo's EXIF metadata. Raw GPS coordinates are not stored. Location is converted to a region name (e.g., "Seoul, Korea") and used only for AI content generation. You may disable location data in your device's camera settings.

Device Location

We may request access to your device's current location when creating a record. If permitted, regional characteristics are reflected in AI-generated content. Location access is optional and the Service remains fully functional if denied.

Location information is used solely for AI content generation and is never shared with third parties.

5. Third-Party Services

We do not share your personal information with third parties except as necessary to provide the Service through the following external services:

Google Gemini API

Photos, keywords, and pet information are sent to generate draft letters, essays, and diaries.

Anthropic Claude API

Draft text from Gemini is sent for proofreading and emotional refinement.

AWS S3 / S3 Glacier

Compressed photos are stored in S3 (ap-northeast-2 region), and originals are archived in S3 Glacier Deep Archive.

Firebase (Google FCM)

FCM tokens are used to deliver push notifications.

※ We do not use your content to train AI models.

6. Security Measures

• Authentication via social login (Kakao, Google, Apple, Naver) or verified email
• JWT-based authentication to prevent unauthorized access
• Photos stored privately on AWS S3, accessed only via signed temporary URLs
• All communication between server and client encrypted via HTTPS
• Original photos encrypted and stored in S3 Glacier Deep Archive

7. Your Rights

You may exercise any of the following rights at any time:

• Request access to your personal information
• Request correction or deletion of your personal information
• Request suspension of personal information processing
• Request account deletion and data removal (completed within 7 days)
